Over 3 generations, the small inn gradually grew to become today’s Romantik Hotel Santer. As a traditional family-run hotel, the Romantik Hotel Santer boasts a time-honoured history.
Since 1860, when the family villa was nothing more than a small guest house, it has been a popular meeting place for visitors from all over the world.
Pepi Santer und Paula Schwingshackl, the parents of the present owner Herbert Santer, inherited the small guest house in Dobbiaco Nuova, which at that time bore the name of “Villa Santer”.
Herbert Santer and his wife Godelieve took over the modest pension from his parents in 1970 to turn it over the years into a successful Romantik and Wellness Hotel.

Today their son Jürgen, is an important support to the management besides being the head chef at this romantic hotel in the Dolomites. Moreover, the family counts three daughters: Nathalie, Saskia and Stephanie, also known as the “Santer Sisters”. All three of them share a true passion for cross-country skiing and have been part of the Italian national team in cross-country skiing and/or biathlon.
Since 2008 the Hotel Santer is one of the Romantik Hotels.
